Just wanted to say I absolutely LOVED I'll Meet You There and growing up in a small military town I can definitely say you got the emotions and sometimes PTSD that the soldiers are afflicted with spot on. Did you serve, live in a military town, or just know someone who had been affected in the same way Josh had?

Hey! Both my parents are Marines - they met when they were serving. My dad has PTSD and Gulf War Syndrome, so a lot of this PTSD stuff hits very close to home. I have many other family members and friends who served or are currently serving, as well. Still, I did a lot of research by interviewing vets who'd been deployed in Afghanistan and Iraq, doing a lot of reading, and digging around. But those interviews and my dad's experiences were the real thing that helped me as I worked on Josh. Thank you so much for reading!

In your novel "I'll Meet You There," you tackle many important topics including poverty, PTSD, war/soldier stigma, alcoholism, and so mich more. As an author, how to you navigate the narrative with so many elements without making the story feel long or dense with topics? Additionally, how do you ensure your story is sincere and tasteful. All of these topics are handled so tactfully and I appreciate that so much.
