Goodreads asked Aida Jacobs:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Aida Jacobs NEVER give up!

The publishing of 'Dragon Guardian: Fire' was a process that took fourteen years of tweaks, rewrites, and rejections by publishers followed by more tweaking and rewriting until it was finally where I wanted it to be. Because I knew I that I had a good story, I decided to stop being told "no" by publishing houses and publish my novel on my own.

This age of technology and social media is truly the best time for self-published authors. That's not to say that it will be an easy road. Striking out on your own without the resources and connections of a publishing house is HARD work because YOU are the one doing all the footwork and jumping through all the hoops, but it is also very rewarding in the end.
