Hi Jonathan, I just read COTD. My only disappointment is that I did not find this book sooner! Seriously, I loved it so much. One of my favorite kind of books to read is coming of age/horror/scifi. So of course I loved it. My question is did you write Savage Species after COTD? COTD is the only book of yours I have read so far, so does Savage Species continue on that story?

Jonathan Janz Hello, Haley! I'm so happy you enjoyed COTD. Your question is a great one.

I wrote Savage Species as a standalone novel with some idea of developing it into a series. Back then (2013), I had no idea COTD would come about. When I did get the idea for COTD, I realized it would be a great prequel for SS. Then, even though SS had done really well and developed a strong following, COTD blew it out of the water with regard to sales and acclaim. I had always sort of planned on continued SS, but the more I thought about it, the more I realized that the two stories could intertwine in some interesting ways.

So...what's going to happen is the sequel to COTD (which I'll begin writing later this month) is going to mainly feature the COTD characters but will also bring in what happened in SS. In a way, the next book will be a sequel to both novels, as weird as that sounds.
