Elle Kennedy:
I'm an aspiring writer, but I'm dealing with two things: I get discouraged every single day because 96% of manuscripts are rejected, and I haven't had an idea for years, literally. There's too many people wanting to be writers, and knowing there's so much competition just kills me a little every day. When I get motivated, immediatly something appears about the industry that kills it. Any tips on how to deal with this?

That’s really a hard one, because the industry is always changing, there’s always something going on, and as you said – so many people are trying to “make it”. Honestly the best piece of advice I could give you is write for you. Write something that you enjoy writing, and write it because you want to write it. You can’t worry yourself with what other people are doing, and you can’t be a machine and just pump out something for the sake of putting something out. One of my bestselling books was something I wrote for fun.
The other thing is stay determined! I had a LOT of rejections before I got my first yes. And even after writing 30+ books, I’m still never 100% sure what’s going to do well and what isn’t. You just try your best with something you’re happy with, and don’t give up. If you’re feeling discouraged then maybe you need to take some time off, clear your mind, and decide if it’s something you really want to do. it doesn’t always get easier just because you publish something. At the end of the day, it's a job, and there are days when you're really going to hate your job LOL
