Goodreads asked Janice S. Ellis:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Janice S. Ellis We all experience writer's block. It is a hazard of the business. Over the years, I have tried several things with success. One of the best things I find, especially if I am writing an article or book, is to stop writing in the middle of a sentence. When I resume, it forces me to think/rethink the continuation and development of what I am writing.

When it comes to writing shorter pieces, like my online commentary, I open a blank page and begin writing WHATEVER thoughts I have. Some meaningful topic or thought always emerges.

Other times, when I just can't get in the groove, I read, clean my house or do some other chore that I have put off and allow my mind to "free float," think freely.

One or the other approaches usually get me going, back to my craft.
