I see in your author bio that you lived in Hawaii for some time. Any chance we might see a Hawaiian folklore inspired book from you in the future?

Katherine Arden To be honest, no. I Ioved my time in Hawaii, but having lived there doesn't give me the right to appropriate Hawaiian culture for my benefit. I think it's really important to allow cultures that have been historically marginalized to speak with their own voices. That being said, if someone published a Hawaiian folklore fantasy, I'd read it with great delight.

If I may ask, has this beautiful, vivid, magical writing always been with you?
