Lois McMaster Bujold:
We have done a cosplay of Miles and Ekaterin based on written descriptions and some imagination (it helps that my other half is 5" taller than I am) but we also want to do a generic Vor couple. I want to portray a Major in ImpSec, but I cannot find a full listing of the ranks with collar tab colors in any wiki. Do you have it all written out? Also, from my lady: What do Vor ladies wear routinely?
Lois McMaster Bujold
Nope, I've never written out the rank minutia. Viz costuming, you are also on your own, though I could note that I have not inflicted the necktie upon Barrayaran men.
What Vor ladies wear will depend upon era, age, income, and venue or function, so there's quite a lot of free play, there.
I could add, the Russian fans were doing quite a lot of Vorkosiverse costuming at one time -- there might be something online for inspiration, or at such fan art refuges as Deviant Art. Check around. Other commenters might chime in below.

Your 5 Gods books contain one of my favorite story universes. I've been tempted to read your other books. I love your character development! I haven't read them yet because I'm nervous about becoming obsessed over another series and the feeling of knowing my mind will never find peace until I devour every single book. Which should I start with next? And may the Bastard forgive me if I find another obsession. ^^ -Kalli

I read somewhere that your father was a prominent engineer; did his work influence the engineering-technical aspects of your writing? I'm thinking of the Habitat reconfiguration in Falling Free, the bubble-car system on Komarr, the soletta disaster, and Cordelia and Ekaterin's discussion of city planning for Sergyar.

First off, thanks for the work. Your books are old friends. I just started rereading "Penric's Demon", and he's just getting to know Desdemona a bit, thinking about what was happening to him, and it came to me that one day I would very much like to read the story of Penric's first imprinting on the next generation. Posting that is the second most fannish thing I've ever done. >grin< Forgive me?
