"Hallowed Hunt" is rapidly becoming one of my favorite books; I've read, and reread it about three times in the last six weeks. You are so deft in the way you unfold a story about character from "left field" becoming the tool for restoring order to a system that became unbalanced through a misguided use of power. Since a question is required, did "Hallowed Hunt" draw some inspiration from shamanistic practices?

Glad you are enjoying the book! I do think surly Ingrey grows on one, if given a chance.
Really, only the name and a loose connection with animal practices and sacrifices is brought over from our-world sources. Almost everything else about 5-gods-world shamanism is made up for the purposes of, and to be consistent with, the world-building of the story.

[continued on next rock] What I wonder is, how likely her fictional biology might be? She hypothesized a long-ago genetic manipulation of the ancestral Gethenians (who were homo saps??), for the ambisexual bit that was such a hit in "Left Hand of Darkness". Since you are something of an sfnal expert on alternate human biology & sexuality.... GR has a very short word limit on these queries! TIA, Pete Tillman

I was browsing the Baen ebook site and came across this: https://www.baen.com/penrics-travels-earc.html It shows a pub date of 5/5/2020, which of course is more than a month away. I have all these already, of course, but do you have any info on this? Good cover art, too, btw.

What actors would you fantasy-cast as your characters if someone were to make movies of your books? Ignoring current ages: Peter Dinklage seems obvious as Miles (I'd love to see him doing the manic parts). Robert Pattinson (pre-vampire!!) as Ivan. Cordelia: for some reason, Meryl Streep comes to mind.
