Goodreads asked Robert Ullrich:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Robert Ullrich Read. Read. Read. Write. Read. Read. Read. Write. I've already read 71 novels this year, and it's still August. There is nothing like reading good authors to inspire and even teach you how to be a better writer. Not just today's, but the classics, too. Alexander Dumas was one of my early favorites, but so were Louis L'Amour, Earl Stanley Gardner and Edgar Rice Burroughs. As far as encouragement, just keep moving forward. Write for yourself and you will always be satisfied with your work.
