Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Anna Halabi I just remember Syria. Whenever I need inspiration, I close my eyes and imagine the characters. I see Bana sitting in the corner, braiding her hair and caressing her wounds. I hear Um Hussam ranting about a potential daughter-in-law and I watch the disappointment creep over Rami's face at the sight of his fake bride.
Most of the characters in "Syrian Brides" are based on friends and relatives back home in Aleppo.
