Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Anne Perreault We were studying abolition in history and there were a few characters that were really interesting to me. And as the thoughts began to marinate in my mind, I did a search on thoroughbred racing here in the States. One of my favorite books that I read to my kids was Marguerite Henry's 'King of the Wind'. I've never forgotten the story of Sham and his pal, Grimalkin. And since I'm super partial to Arabs, the story just exploded in my head. It's really important to me that the romance isn't front and center. The character's relationship with God has to be. So... 'The Way Home' was born.
