A Goodreads user asked Alice Oseman:

I really love Radio Silence since I feel like it pretty much hit the nail on the head with how I felt after graduating from my school. What inspired you to write it and how did you manage to sum up the experience of so many within a singular book? (Love from Germany <3)

Alice Oseman Thank you so much! I'm so glad you enjoyed it :D
I was inspired by my own experience at school and university. At school I felt intensely pressured into pursuing academia - to get good grades and a degree and a career and money - even though that wasn't really what I was passionate about. That resulted in me studying English at a very academic university and spending three years miserable because I made the wrong choice! I wanted to write a book to show that there are always other options and paths through life.
