Congratulations on your great success Mr. Barclay. I have to marvel at how you can continuously come up with new, different and compelling themes in a (relatively) short period to keep producing-by contrast, I endured about 4 years of Balkan upheaval just to come up with the full story for my new novel about Macedonia. So: what's your strategy in planning for future books? How far ahead do you create structures?

I don't have a drawerful of future plot ideas. I generally focus all my attention on the work in progress and once done, start thinking about what I might do next. I have maybe one future book idea in my head at the moment. I tend to wait for that one great idea per year -- a great "what if" -- to just strike me. (I just need ONE!) If I think it has the potential for 100,000 words, I start making notes. I know a lot of writers and everyone has their own way of doing things.

I have enjoyed reading all your books. I have just read a book I found on Amazon called "Mike Harris made me eat my dog" I think it was great, and wondered if you had thought of doing a similar book on Ont.'s present Premier Doug Ford. You wouldn't have to even make up funny quotes, he says them himself. Anyone that can make Donald Trump sound like a genius is a book waiting to be written. Will you think about it?
