What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Sakura Nobeyama Never, ever give up. Actually, that advice comes from a death-row inmate. Yikes. But it's true for authors as well. The biggest reason people never get published is they don't finish. And no, writing a first draft is not finishing. It's only the beginning. Going back to edit again and again is where the real work begins. If you have friends willing to read and give advice, that is a very special blessing.
