Gansey asked Alice Oseman:

How'd you manage to get a book published when you were nineteen? Wouldn't you be in university at the time? Sorry, I just find it baffling that you were able to focus on studying and write a whole novel at the same time so I'm curious as to how you managed that.

Alice Oseman I wrote my first book while I was at school, mostly during the summer holiday but also in evenings after school. I was able to do most of my coursework and homework during school hours and I also just didn't do a lot of homework (if they weren't going to check it, I didn't do it!), which left me lots of time to do the things I actually enjoyed at home.
Writing brought me such joy and peace that I genuinely loved doing it and looked forward to it every single day. I didn't feel any pressure to write something amazing or write something that loads of people were going to read, like I feel now. I wasn't involved in any online writing communities - I wasn't even on Twitter - meaning I didn't ever compare myself to other writers. It just made me happy, so I did it!
