Goodreads asked Sasha Greene:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Sasha Greene Read lots of books and watch lots of films; it's all research into how to tell a good story.
Write what's in your heart; don't try to put yourself into a box that you're not suited for just because you think it might be profitable.
Finish the book before looking at it too critically; you can't edit a blank page, and first drafts are generally rubbish. Don't compare your first draft with all your favourite books; they have been through the editing process with editors who know what they are doing.
I've also found the Bestseller Experiment podcast very useful; it's definitely worth the subscription for the Deep Dive episodes if you can afford it, but if not then half of their episodes are free for anyone to listen to.
