A Goodreads user asked Aimee Nicole Walker:

Ground Zero is an enjoyable book, but curious why you chose to use the name of a real life computer expert, Kelsey Hightower, for a character who plays a cyber crime expert. Seems a bit odd? It's not exactly a John Smith...

Aimee Nicole Walker Wow! It was honestly pure coincidence. I am the least computer savvy person on the planet and unfamiliar with anyone associated with the field other than Steve Jobs and Bill Gates. The only research I did for this book was looking up how IP addresses can be traced and various ways to find history on a computer. I learned a bit more for Devil’s Hour since it involves a hacker. None of the articles were associated to her. Kelsey is the name of my cousin and my niece by marriage. Hightower is the last name of someone I used to work with at a job years ago. So, it’s just an uncanny coincidence. It’s why authors put the disclaimers on the copyright page.
