Given that you still work full time as a teacher and yet publish books on a regular basis, how do the two worlds bleed into each other? More specifically, what do your students make of your career as a writer (do they comment on your books or talk about horror generally with you, has there been any backlash from students and / or their parents, etc.).
Paul Tremblay
It's difficult for me to answer the first question. I didn't start writing until I started teaching. I really don't know one without the other. My students get a kick out of it, I think. It's really only been within the last year or two that I get kids telling me they've read a book or will read one. Same with parents. No backlash. Everyone connected to my school has been if not supportive, then at least tolerant.

Ran out of room—sorry. OP made an incredible movie, The Blackcoat’s Daughter and I thought he would be perfect to make AHFOG. But then I read he was no longer attached which is a shame? What happened and so you know who’s directing the movie? Ben Wheatley, in my opinion would do a great job as well. Whom did you imagine helming or who was on your list of hopefuls. I can only imagine how personal it is to hand it over.

I'm a little more than half way through Head Full of Ghosts. Fantastic read so far. I was wondering what inspired you to write a book that clearly pays homage to exorcism books and movies that came before, but in a way that (so far) subverts the well established tropes of all of them? Did it start out as a more conventional Exorcism story and evolve?

Hi Paul, I love your books. I've noticed a LOT of movie, book and music references in them. Many I am familiar with but some I'm not. Probably some go right over my head. I think I added about ten books to my "to read" list while reading A Head Full of Ghosts. Has anyone ever compiled a list of these references that you know of?
