What is your typical starting point that scopes out the plot and sequencing of the storyline , and still ensures it all links together properly ?

Kathy Reichs I start with a chapter-by-chapter outline of the story, then write in a linear fashion, moving from beginning to end. Then I write and rewrite and rewrite until it all links together.
