Hi Lisa - I loved both 'The Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane' and 'The Island of Sea Women' and have 'Snow Flower and the Secret Fan' waiting patiently on my bookshelf. Do your books always finish the way you planned or expected, or do they change as you write? I'm also curious about authors that you have found inspiring or that you choose to read. Thank you :)

Fun question! Actually, I always write the last line first. Sometimes the scene changes, but the last line remains the same.

Hi Lisa. Ever since I read "Snowflower and the Secret Fan" you have been my favorite author. I live in NYC and I keep checking to see if you will be giving any talks here, or any book signings or any appearances. I'd love to attend! Do you every plan on making any appearances on the east coast, esp NYC?
