What’s it like— in the current political and social climate and with the pandemic and threats to re-open— to be a creative, liberal-minded resident in Texas right now? Have your dealings in the past with the Bush family shaped your views of right wing politics in the state/humanized some current politicians you may disagree with policy-wise?

Lawrence Wright Being a reporter gives you a broader perspective about politics and ideas than most people have. Journalism requires you to listen to folks who have a different view of the world, In some ways, it makes you apolitical because you see so many different perspectives. But over time, you develop a particular view based on the vast experience you have in talking to so many people. As I've gotten older, I'm less forgiving.
