HollyLovesBooks asked John Marrs:

My first read from you was The Passengers and now I am almost through with What Lies Between Us. I am loving it as I did The Passengers, but they seem completely different in topics/genres. The Passengers seems slightly more science fiction and What Lies Between Us has no scifi aspect to it so far (I am at 75%). How do you write across genres and maintain the excellence achieved with one genre? Thanks!

John Marrs Hey Holly! I write for two labels. For Penguin, my books are psych thrillers with a sci-fi twist and for Thomas & Mercer, they're simply psych thrillers. What Lies is the latter and as you continue reading, you won't see anything sci fi about it. I'd like to think I can cross genres because all my books are character led, no matter if the book is set now or in an undetermined future date. Thanks for reading them!
