Goodreads asked Samantha Mullins:

How do you get inspired to write?

Samantha Mullins My inspiration comes from a variety of things. Honestly, and some will laugh at this. I had stopped writing for a very long time. But then I read Stephenie Meyers Twilight series, back in 2009. As we all know she is not the greatest writer, but she had made a good story. So after reading the Twilight series, I was like "I can do this!" and so I started writing again, and started out handwriting story ideas, character ideas, settings, etc. Then started actually writing a story. Started out as me trying to remember a horror book I was writing when I was in Middle School, that my grandfather ended up throwing away.

Well couldn't remember what all that story entailed, so I scapped it. Started brainstorming, and turn it from an Horror Novel, into a fantasy novel. It took many years to get to the point, that I sat down and worked on it more and more and eventually finishing it. Friends, Colleagues, other authors, movies, books, tv shows, music. They all help give me inspiration to continue writing. To get me to the point, where now i'm a self published Author.
