Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Eva Sandor I truly cannot remember why, but a few years ago I wrote a little fragment of a scene where an out-of-work jester tries to perform a joke for a woman in a sedan chair (who ends up sic'ing her cheetah on him). For some reason I thought it was worth expanding on, and so I did. Slowly it grew, and all of a sudden I found myself thinking: wow. This might not end up as just a short story. I might actually have-- no, MAKE!-- time to write an entire novel.
