A childhood trip to Lower Calf's Creek Falls in the Escalante Staircase inspired me to write the Modutan Empire epic fantasy adventure series. Red sandstone, a valley of lush green foliage in the middle of the desert, and a crystal clear pool at the base of a rushing waterfall is something a child never forgets!
