When did you realize that you wanted to express your creativity and knowledge through writing? Was it encouraged by others? What creative expressions (e.g. art, dance, media, music) have you tried in the past, present or future to express your creativity through?

Hi Nayab -- I began writing novels a little over 5 years ago, though I used to spend my time writing stories when I was very young. I have had many passions in my life--cooking, home decorating, gardening--that I would say served as outlets for my creative side, though I never thought of them as that. I still love all those things, but they have taken a back seat to writing now :D
As far as being encouraged, writing was something I jumped into because I wanted to do it. I never told anyone besides my husband that I was writing a book until the book was done and I was self-publishing. It was met with mixed response (from excitement to quick dismissal). I think every writer gets that same reaction.

Hi Kathleen! First of all, THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!! I've just finished "In Her Wake" and should say the book is amazing! I enjoyed reading it and as well as the first book "Ten Tiny Breaths". They are my favorite in this series. My question is what influenced you to write this book and helped you to creat the plot. Were there some events in real life that really took place and then became part of this story?

First of all I love your Burying water series! I just re-read book one and two and fell in love all over again. My question for you would be have you ever thought of writing a series about Elmira from Becoming Rain? I thought she was a really mysterious character and she peaked my interest. I would love to hear her story about being a deep cover agent. Thank you & I can't wait for SURVIVING ICE!
