This question contains spoilers…
(view spoiler)[i'm sorry if this comes off as rude, but have you made it a point to say you don't support pedophilia? i love romance novels and i wanted to love this but your heroine is literally being groomed and the "hero" is a predator. like this promotes pursuing minors and is not a romance at all, let alone the hero cheats and is an a**hole for 97% of the book???? like this is just an excuse for statutory rape??? Hey Z!
Firstly, I really appreciate that you actually came to ask this question rather than accuse me of horrific things.
I do not support pedophilia under any circumstances. I'm not sure if you're aware, but pedophilia refers to sexual attraction to girls under the age of 13. Not now nor have I ever, been a supporter of that. Pedophiles are absolutely repulsive and sicken me to the core.
If you remember, Adrianna turns 17 a quarter into the first book, Balance. That is nearly 4 years more than what is to be considered pedophilia. In the state she lives, Georgia, the age of consent is 16. Statutory rape not is actually being committed because she is of sound mind and body, and at the legal age to make choices govern by the state in which she lives. Her parents have granted her permission to live on her own hours away because she is more than capable. The only "person" (since this is a fictional story) who could say otherwise, is a judge in a court of law where hard evidence would have to submitted against Kova.
I wish you loved the book too and I'm sorry you didn't! I'm so glad you wanted to talk about it, though. While you may see it as grooming, I most definitely don't. Not when I was a gymnast for many, many years and applied my personal experience into the story. I don't believe it promotes pursing minors either, not when the character is the legal age of consent, living on their own, and quite often purses the hero herself first.
It's a matter of opinions in reality, but this is fiction, and why reading is so fun! It gets your mind spinning and pushes you out of your comfort zone to question your morals.
As for the hero cheating 97% of the book - I'm a lover of the anti-heroes and cheating romances. I'm not really sure how those qualities are a plausible excuse for statuary rape, but I personally love those kind characters in my romance reads.
I know my books aren't for everyone, and that's totally ok. Thanks again for personally coming to me to talk. I really appreciate it.
xoxo,
Lucia

Lucia Franco:
I have been completely engrossed in the Off Balance series this past week - THANK YOU! After I finish Dismount, I will have listened to everything that you have out on audio-my question is-will you have more of your books recorded in the future? I have 2 kids & work full time. I fear I would lock myself in the bathroom and neglect my life if I started reading an actual book by you! ;) HELP
