Where did you get the idea for your most recent book?

Daniel Thorman I cover this topic a bit in my author's afterword. The story actually came about as a natural consequence of the prior novel. I wanted to portray a medieval learning institution. There wouldn't be 'classes' of students (or would there?). I also wanted to define the wizard community of Osten with examples of their various capabilities as Lucas and Royland seek progression toward Journeyman. The bubonic plague was the necromancer's way of attacking the conclave as he had promised in the epilogue of "Chaos in the Caravan".
