Dear Lisa - I have only just found the Tea Girl of Hummingbird Lane. I am mesmerised. I have been fascinated with the ethnic minority groups in the Golden Triangle area since visiting N Thailand and Kunming in 1989. How did you find out so much about the Akha to write such a detailed account? Do you find that publishers are open to these stories? I find them closed minded to such a story especially in this time period

Lisa See I did a ton of research. I also interviewed many Akha in the tea mountains of Yunnan. Are publishers open to these types of stories? It depends. This was, I think, my eleventh book. I have a bit of a track record, which my publisher trusts up to a point.

China Dolls was an amazing book! As a children's librarian who reads teen and adult non-fiction for fun... it also seemed like a great read for mature high school girls who enjoy historical fiction. Will you be writing any YA in the near future?

I have enjoyed ALL of your books and anxiously wait for each new one. I think that I learned the most from "On Gold Mountain" as it educated me so much about the Chinese-American experience!! My husband grew up in LA's Chinatown in the '50's and his family had a little diner there so it is possible that our families may have known each other. Any chance of a novel about LA Chinatown?

Was super excited to see that we can ask you questions here! I've read all of your historical fiction books and am obsessed with every one. I've yet to find an author that can quite measure up. My absolute favorites are the ones based in old China, like Peony in Love. You mentioned to another reader you don't currently have plans to write for a similar time period, but do you have any recommendations?
