Cornelia Funke:
Hi Cornelia. I found out about your books after I saw the movie and learned that it was indeed based on a book (which the best movies are ;-)). I read Inkheart a couple times, and wanted to know more about Mo and Meggie's adventures with the Inkworld and was excited when I discovered it was the first in a trilogy. My question for you is where did you get the inspiration for the world and characters (Dustfinger Basta)?
Cornelia Funke
Dustfinger just showed up - he is one of the easiest characters I ever wrote, it was always so clear who he is. Paul Bethany said a similar thing to me, when he played him: He is so easy, Cornelia. He just wants to go home:) That he plays with fire I realized when I was watching fire eaters on a medieval market in Germany.
As for Basta - I find it slightly worrying how many of my readers like him. For me he is a character i pity. A broken thing, cruel and not very bright, and very eager to follow orders.

Hello. How do you get ideas for your stories and how do you begin them? I find myself in front of my computer, frustrated and confused with every beginning of a story I'm trying to write. I love your books, they're amazing and capture me into a whole different world. :) Thanks

Hi Cornelia. I'm a very big fan from Ireland. I was wondering if you'll ever visit Ireland for inspiration for your books.?Our myths and legends are certainly something you should check out if you haven't already. Also, I was wondering if there is an address that I could send my books to to get them signed. If there's not, that's cool too. Thanks, Tadgh

Greetings! I am attending a course on Children's Literature as part of being an Early Childhood Education student at my university. I am doing an author research project and I have always enjoyed your work. As my author of choice, I was wondering what inspirations are behind your works and what made you lean towards fantasy? Thanks!
