Goodreads asked Lexie Nicholas:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Lexie Nicholas Get your first draft written. It's not going to be perfect, but just the act of writing "The End" on the last page of your manuscript is a huge accomplishment, regardless if you're planning on publishing this book sometime down the line or have it in your drawer just for you to read.

If you do decide to publish it, revise your manuscript to the best of your ability, then have it professionally edited and get a professional cover made.

Yes, it's a lot of work to write a book, but I find the most rewarding part about being an author is brightening up someone's day. And that, to me, is all worth the effort!!!
