Dear Hazel, I just spent the last hour sobbing into my tissue box while finishing Ellie & the Harp Maker. I absolutely ADORED this book and devoured it completely while simultaneously trying to slow myself down because I didn't want it to end. I LOVED the characters of Daniel & Ellie so much. I felt as if I was personal friends with them. Could you write a sequel & tell us what is happening in their lives now?
Hazel Prior
Hello Fran. Wow, thank you! What a lovely, heart-warming message! I am overjoyed that you loved my debut novel. I still often think of Dan, Ellie, Ed and Phineas, and wonder what they are doing. Unfortunately I can't get away with writing a sequel unless the sales for E&THM are huge and at the moment they're not (sob!). My hands are tied by what my publishers want and, of course, they're looking for novels that sell well. Having said that, I may be lightly referring to some of those beloved characters in a future book. So watch this space!

I am rather ill right now with many serious illnesses and I have been taking care of my 43 year old wheelchair son his whole life. I am depressed and worn out. I read How the Penguins saved Veronica and I was so happy. Then I looked you up and found out there were 2 more penguin books so I ordered them from Amazon. Do you know how happy I was? Thank you for lifting my spirts. Ellie was my first one of yours.

Oh Hazel, thank you so much for responding. I'd forgotten I asked you this. My husband passed away 2 weeks ago. I'd just finished your book and was reading another while at his bedside for the last bit of March and two weeks into April. He died on April 14. It's been tough focusing on reading and anything to do with writing. I will get back to it and I'd love to take a look at that web site. Could you pass it on pls?
