Rick Riordan:
Is there any hope of a TV (mini?)series like Carnival? It would go SO FAR to introduce RRP to more people! It's my rec after anyone reads "their" book for non-spoilery previews that open up the world. So many everywhere don't know about RRP. Carnival needs more love as an intro to RRP instead of a supplement. Literally no school librarians or teachers in my circle (spread over MO,KS and IL) even knew about RRP.

I wish I had an answer for raising awareness and providing support in a more comprehensive way, but as a former teacher myself, I only see one true solution: top-to-bottom systemic change where we start valuing (read: funding) education and teachers. I am, sadly, pessimistic that will ever happen. It infuriates me. What's really disheartening is RRP is one of the few initiatives that has been heavily funded and promoted across schools and libraries, as well as with the general public. It has succeeded beyond our wildest expectations and helped start a real change in the book industry, but still...we see how limited the effect is and how many people don't know about it. Carnival in particular is a good example. Short story anthologies simply don't sell well or get noticed. Ever. And yet it hit the bestseller list for multiple weeks. But it still isn't as known as it should be, you're right. Yes, there is hope for TV/movie adaptations for many RRP titles, including Tristan. I am trying to shepherd a few of those projects along myself, just as a producer/advisor, now that I have a few connections in the film industry. It would be great if we could do in film what we are trying to do with the publishing imprint. We keep working, doing what we can, knowing it won't be enough, but we have to try. Thank you for being in the classroom for your kids.

Rick Riordan:
Dear Rick. I was wondering if there's any other world mythology you are interested in one day telling a story with such as Native american, Chinese or Japanese mythology. No pressure to be definite but do any of these pique your interest? PS Big fan of your work and love the detail you put into the characters from mythology and appreciate the research you do to make an excellent coherent story. Keep it up.
