It's mainly a question of the rules for that species. If it requires the owner of the house to issue the invitation--or someone inside the house, at least--then authorization from a legislative authority will not work.
On the other hand, if it just requires someone's permission--anyone's--then another officer goes in, tells his monster partner to get inside, and all is well.

Given the fact that it was shown in orb that Eric could exist as a naked soul, could he keep a clone body around as a spare, create a gem that could hold his soul, and teach Mary the spell to put him in it? That way she could catch his soul in the event of his death and take it to the soul swap table. Might only work in specific cases but it might make a good back up right?

Mr. Whited, I am totally and completely in love with the Nightlord series. I picked it up on Audible mainly because it was recommended, it was really long (at that time I was driving alot). I started playing it, thinking 2 things. One I wasnt sure it was going to be my type of book (boy was I wrong, happily) and two Sean Runnette sounded a bit like what I would think Adam West would sound like reading a book aloud.?
