Nikia Ellis asked Bruce Beckham:

This question contains spoilers… (view spoiler)

Bruce Beckham Hi Nikia – thank you, for your question – and not least for choosing and getting to the end of the book. If I recall correctly there is a reference in the front matter, that Murder on the Bridge is the 20th in the DI Skelgill series – so in part the ‘anniversary’ stems from this milestone being reached. If you are able to compare, you might notice the similarity in the words of the opening chapter and those of book 1, Murder in Adland. In due course DS Jones alludes to the bankside breakfast that recalls her first meeting with Skelgill, all those adventures ago. Later this plays out in the scene that you mention, which appears to include both Skelgill and DS Leyton as co-conspirators. I suspect the anniversary means more than is revealed by those present, but I am still waiting to find this out!
