Dawn DeJarnatt
Dawn DeJarnatt asked Nathan Dylan Goodwin:

How do you come up with the plots for your books? Are they based on a real genealogical mysteries that you've heard about?

Nathan Dylan Goodwin Hi Dawn. Thanks for the question!
The plots come from all kinds of places, very rarely with my actually seeking them out. They often come from tangential threads to my own research or a story / article that I've read that sparks my interest. For example, The Sterling Affair came about after I received an email from The National Archives saying that formerly classified MI5 & MI6 spy documents from the 1950s were being released and I thought that would make an excellent story!
