How many tours did you serve in the Army and where you part of the Iowa National Guard while you were in Afghanistan or where you part of the regular army?

Thanks for the question. I served as a combat engineer in the Iowa Army National Guard starting in 1999. In 2004, I was among the men from my unit who were activated for federal duty to serve in Afghanistan, and I served in Afghanistan from June 2004—May 2005. While deployed to Afghanistan, I was, technically in the regular active duty Army.
