Belinda Jonak asked Jason Roberts:

Picking nits: pg. 165, paragraph 2- Acer is the genus of maples not oaks. How you do you define "panther"? Jefferson's panther skin had to be a cougar aka puma, painter, mountain lion, etc. Their "size matters" difference of opinion does seem silly by modern standards.

Jason Roberts Thank YOU for picking nits! I want my work to be as accurate as possible, but errors have their way of creeping in. This one is flagged for corrections in future printings. If you (or anyone else) find other ones, please let me know.

As for the definition of “panther”: yeah, that goes to the heart of the problem with nomenclature. Just because something goes by a distinct name, doesn’t mean it’s the same species.
