How do you deal with writer’s block?

Phaedra Weldon I'm not sure I believe in writer's block. I do believe in story block. When I come across a pause—where I don't know where to go, I assume it's my subconscious telling me I went the wrong way. That's when I take a brief break from the book and do something else. Usually the break cleanses the palette and I can go back and figure out where I made that wrong turn.
