Cass asked Django Wexler:

I really enjoyed How to Become a Dark Lord, but felt the main character was over-the-top sexual. It took away some of the joy of the book for me. Yes, women can be badasses and yes, they can do anything, but I don't know many women (if any) who are like this character. Can you please elaborate on why you made this choice for this character?

Django Wexler Part of the point of the story is that at the beginning, having despaired of actually accomplishing her goal (or anything else), hedonism is all Davi has left -- without hope OR fear of anything different ever happening, all you've got is the basic pleasures of food, sex, etc. That's where Davi starts out, and she has to rediscover things like "actually having an emotional connection with other people".

(Also, there are all different types of people, in every direction -- root around in a fan-fiction archive for a while if you really want to understand the depth of our collective id.)
