Part of the point of the story is that at the beginning, having despaired of actually accomplishing her goal (or anything else), hedonism is all Davi has left -- without hope OR fear of anything different ever happening, all you've got is the basic pleasures of food, sex, etc. That's where Davi starts out, and she has to rediscover things like "actually having an emotional connection with other people".
(Also, there are all different types of people, in every direction -- root around in a fan-fiction archive for a while if you really want to understand the depth of our collective id.)

(view spoiler)[Hi, Django! I just finished the Burningblade and Silvereye series and enjoyed it very much. One question about something that was bugging me - in the epilogue to Blood of the Chosen, Ashok thinks about the world that the ghouls made hostile to his kind, which seemed like a reference to the Plague. Emperor of Ruin indicates that the Plague is a result of Ashok’s work, as research by Maya. Are the two in conflict? (hide spoiler)]

So glad you enjoyed the series! I went back and looked at this and tried to remember what I was thinking -- I wish I could say there was something clever, but I suspect it's honestly just a mistake. The best I can say is that Ashok has a somewhat tenuous grip on sanity!

Really glad you enjoyed it! No plans for more in that universe at the moment, though, I think it wrapped up pretty neatly and I've got lots more stuff I want to do.
Django Wexler
Really glad you enjoyed it! Unfortunately, while I never say never, it's not something that's happening for the foreseeable future. I should have some new things starting up soon, though!
Django Wexler
I'm so glad you like it! I've definitely considered it -- something set in modern times would be interesting. But I have a lot of stuff to write, so no set plans as of right now!
Django Wexler
Quite possibly! I definitely read the Thursday Next books at some point. There's a lot of books-as-portals stuff floating around -- I remember playing Myst as a kid!

The only really universal advice is that you have to write. It doesn't have to be every day, or a certain amount -- process is personal, and everyone's is different. Whatever lets you actually get words on the page is what works -- experiment to find out. But you have to write and finish projects.
A common failure mode is to get caught up in world-building and planning to try and make everything perfect. Remember that, first of all, you can always edit and revise once you finish. And second of all, most writers go through multiple books before selling one (I certainly did) so the first project that you write is probably not going to be the one that sells. It is *totally okay and normal* to write a novel, put it in a trunk, and never touch it again -- the important thing is the writing skill you gain.

(view spoiler)[Is the Soliton an aircraft carrier? Or at least based off of one? (hide spoiler)]
Django Wexler
It's not literally an aircraft carrier (there doesn't seem to be a flight deck, and the top is covered in towers and protrusions) but it's certainly big enough! It's actually larger than any real-life aircraft carrier (or oil tanker, which are the biggest ships afloat) -- there's no precise size in the books but it has to be at least a couple of kilometers long.

Good question! Wells of Sorcery 3 is done and in the pipeline -- it'll be released in January. No long wait required!

(view spoiler)[Something has been bugging me ever since I finished Infernal Battalion.
Namely, "What was Janus's plan once he got to Elysium?"
If he already had the Thousand Names, why did he have to go to Elysium? He already had access to plenty of demons. Was there a particular one he was looking for? I thought at first he had a grudge against the Black, but that didn't seem to be the case. (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[It's never explicitly spelled out, but it does seem like there was a specific one he was looking for. He never says why, but there's a few hints in what we learn of his backstory. (hide spoiler)]

Everybody has their own way of getting through this! For me, what works is doing an outline so I know where I'm going, and then working to a quota of X words per day. That way as long as I make it each day, even if X is fairly low, I'm getting SOMEWHERE.
Glad you enjoyed the series! =)

Who knows?! No plans for it, at this point, but I'm not going to say never. But I've got tons of other worlds and ideas I want to write -- ASHES OF THE SUN comes out in July, I hope you take a look!
Django Wexler
It's tough, because filming something like that generally involves big, expensive battle scenes, so there aren't that many! You've got a lot of what I would recommend -- the Gettysburg movie also does a pretty good job. Waterloo in particular has some amazing battle stuff, although I don't know that it's a good movie overall.
Anything based on Dumas is fairly close, too -- Three Musketeers or Count of Monte Cristo have gone through a bunch of different versions, some better than others.

It's just the Dragon, that's it's name! (Probably because it's spent so long in a book not interacting with humans.)

I wish I had a good answer to this question, but I honestly don't know! I think the publisher will make that decision depending on sales, and I can't predict what they'll do. Sorry I can't be more helpful!
Django Wexler
Hmm, honestly no, I never have! Those books were always Alice's story. It'd be an interesting twist, though!
Django Wexler
Yes, definitely! As of yesterday (1/23) I heard it is delivered to Audible, so we're just waiting for it to get posted on their side. Should be soon I hope.
Django Wexler
I would love to, especially if it were animated! It's not something I can do on my own, though. If a movie studio was interested I'd be really excited!
Django Wexler
Hi Rohan -- thanks so much, I'm glad you liked the series! Unfortunately, I can't look at other people's stuff for a variety of reasons like time and potential legal problems. I recommend finding a critique group or workshop to look it over -- there are plenty online if there's nothing in your area!
Django Wexler
I'm terrible with celebrities so I had to google a picture, but he definitely looks the part!
