Next book is still very much up in the air. I might go back to the Italian Renaissance, I might try for another collaboration with author friends like "A Day of Fire," or I'm playing with a completely new 20th century idea. Who knows? Nothing's settled yet!

Do you think you will ever write more books set in Ancient Rome? I loved your Empress of Rome series, particularly because it was set during a period of Roman history that not a lot of historical fiction has previously covered. I would love to read your fictional take on, say, the Severan Dynasty. (Elagabalus would certainly make for an interesting character.....)

Dear Kate, I just wanted to thank you for your beautiful books about Rome. I really loved them all. Vix is absolutely adorable, but "Daughters of Rome" is my favorite. I was sorry to read that LEC is end of saga, I was hoping for good story about Lucilla, Marcus Aurelius's daughter. You write that maybe you'll go further in Roman past - would you consider to write about Caligula's reign? So many interesting women.
