Mona Langer
Mona Langer asked Erik Larson:

After I have finished one of your books, I always have a lingering feeling of wanting to go back. It's horrible when the story ends! Do you as the author ever have these feelings of emptiness when your tale is finished? Thank you for these stories that actually take the reader to another place and time.

Erik Larson My experience is, thankfully, different from that of my audience. Frankly, by the time I'm done with a book--the writing, the editing, the proofing--I'm DONE. I don't feel empty. I feel relieved, and a little exhausted. However, I do sometimes find my thoughts drifting back into the past, to situations in my books that I found particularly compelling. I'll imagine myself walking through the grounds of the World's Fair of 1893, or sitting in a cafe in Nazi Berlin, with a group of SS officers at the table next door.
