My advice comes from the title of one of the first books I read on self-publishing by Sean Platt and Johnny B. Truant: "Write, Publish, Repeat." A simple philosophy but one to live by.
As I have found out the hard way, the first time through the wringer takes up an incredible amount of time if you want to at least try to position yourself properly for your debut launch. Web site, book cover, pro editing, social platform building, promotion, etc. all are time consuming. Good news is the more you write and publish the easier it will become and your fan base will build...and oh, yes be sure to join the Support for Indie Authors Group here on GR.
