Ramona Popescu asked Penelope Douglas:

Hi Penelope! First.. your books are amazing and let me tell you that Bully was one of the first books I've read sincer getting a Kindle.. and thanks to you the Romance genre became my fav. Question: do you consider writting a book from a 3 rd person narrative perspective? Would that be a challange? kisses! Ramona

Penelope Douglas Haha! I was just musing about this this morning. :)

I have thought about it, but I'm not sure I'll ever do it for two reasons. One, I've written four books in the last fifteen months, which is a lot for me. Training my brain to write from a new perspective seemed time consuming when I've been constantly on deadline. Now that my schedule is opening up, I could definitely think about it if I feel it's right for the story.

And second, I find in this genre, most readers prefer first person. I think the impact is so much better if you can put the reader into the skin of the character. They feel what they feel, and I just believe first person enriches the experience so much more. Not to mention, there are several bloggers I'm fond of and many readers I've met that refuse to read third person.

It's a good perspective, for say, historical romance, but not widely preferred in contemporary.

BUT...if I feel it's right for a story I'm writing, then I will explore it. I considered it for Misconduct, because it felt like it might be a better way to go, but ultimately I decided to stick to my style for now.

Thanks for the question, and I'm glad you liked the books!
