Goodreads asked Suzanne Falter:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Suzanne Falter For me writing is not only what I do, it's wonderful therapy -- a chance to look at my own experiences under the magnifying glass in order to describe them accurately. This is true whether I'm in fiction or non fiction mode ... as I can only experience life, and describe it, through my own lens. So be as honest as you can, and don't forget the poetry is in the details. (That's where the fun is, as well!)

When I published my first book, Doin' the Box Step, I 'knew' it would be published -- I just never let go of that truth. And it worked (Random House was my first publisher.) Then when I published my first non-fiction title, How Much Joy Can You Stand?, I 'knew' I would get a big deal from a major publisher -- which I did. It took three years of persisting, 28 rejections, two major rewrites, learning how to be my own agent and negotiate contracts, as well as signing with a small press. All before the two book deal with Ballantine. Faith, my friend. Just try to hang in there and believe in yourself!
