I love inkheart and i was wondering where u came up with the idea for it? Did u have any inspiration?

Cornelia Funke I had been thinking about a story where characters come out of books for quite a while, Liz. And while I was writing ThiefLord some motives showed up that wouldn't fit into the story....but later fit perfectly into Inkheart. I wonder how often one story steals into another and the writers don't notice!:) Anyway- I also saw Fire eaters on a medieval market in Germany, which made me realize which profession Dustfinger has. Ink heart came together from many sources, not just from one idea or image - as some stories do.

So, how much of your time you can actually spend on writing instead of, for example, presenting and signing books, organising things with your publisher and so on?
