Start writing as soon as possible and write often and heavily. don't doubt yourself or edit yourself or think your ideas are bad. You should work on an idea at least a year before you ask if its bad and then if the answer is "yes, this is horrible" you should begin re-writing. Writing can sometimes be the only artform where bad becomes good through persistence and productivity.
