What would be your advice for young writers who look up to you? (Like me :P)

find your very own path and voice!:) Write your first draft by hand. Be patient with your story. Make an A4 notebook for each idea you find tempting and start collecting material - images, notes, scribbles, research from books and the web. You'll be surprised how easily those books fill up. And even if you decide to never write that story you'll create something beautiful filled with your thoughts and ideas.
Or...forget about all this and do it your very own way!:))) just don't forget: stories like to hide and can only be tricked and lured out with passion, patience and the will to listen. And Stories want to be fed- with the reality of this world. For everything, absolutely everything you imagine comes from the world that surrounds you (though some things may be invisible:)

by the way, a plot chart is something they make us use in school... and your right about one thing. It is dreadful to use. It requires an intro (which I usually like spreading throughout the story), rising action, climax, falling action, and a resolution in that exact order. My teachers have learned about my writing through my mother, they insist on reading whatever I have, and give it a plot chart, and cross out. ?

Hello Cornelia! I'm currently reading Inkheart and I have a question for you. First I would like to say that I absolutely love Inkheart, it's great to read about people that love books as much as I do. I wish I could be just like Elinor, rich and surrounded by books. My question is, have you ever thought about writing Fenoglio's Inkheart with the adventres of Dustfinger, Capricorn, Basta and all the other creatures?
