Goodreads asked Michael Forester:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Michael Forester You have the inspiration, now make the perspiration!

Take a training - local authority creative writing classes are good for beginners.

Join a creative writing class and take constructive criticism on your own work, plus offer it to others on their work- both are excellent disciplines for developing your own.

Listen out for your own unique voice - it will start speaking to you from inside. And when it does, regardless of time or place, take out that pen and paper and get writing. Write anything - don't be afraid of writing rubbish - we all do it all the time. But when you have a huge great refuse heap in front of you, that's the time to start digging out the diamonds lurking quietly inside.

An the most important advice of all: write to please yourself. If your writing doesn't please you it's unlikely to please anyone else.
